Robotic Systems for Sustainable Development

MSc Presentation

This presentation explored how robotic systems can contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

What I did

  • Investigated the role of robots in infrastructure maintenance, traffic reduction, waste management automation, renewable energy systems, and disaster response.
  • Owned the entire project, from concept development and research to slide design and delivery.
  • Selected case studies, sourced licensed visuals, and structured the presentation to communicate both the potential and the ethical considerations of robotics in sustainable development.

What I took away

  • A deeper understanding of how robotics can support environmental and social goals while grappling with privacy, accessibility, safety, and job displacement.
  • A sharper ability to synthesise technical research into an engaging, ethically conscious narrative for a general audience.
